Knauf Gips makes and sells building materials and modular construction systems for residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. It makes products that include plasterboard, mineral fiber acoustic board, dry mortar, and insulation materials. A global group of companies, Knauf has more than 150 plants, gypsum quarries, and mines around the world and operations in some 60 countries in the Americas, Europe, Russia, Australia, Africa, and Asia. Group member companies include Germany's Knauf Marmorit (plasters), Russia's Knauf GUS (gypsum, plaster, and related products), and Knauf Insulation in the US. Brothers Alfons and Karl Knauf founded the still family-owned company in 1932.
